SkidMarks 2001 - A Race Odyssey

The Scoring system

Scoring system

At the time of writing FIA points are awarded as follows:

1st scores 10points

2nd scores 6 points

3rd scores 4 points

4th scores 3 points

5th scores 2 points

6th scores 1 point.

You score points for qualifying to race, for improving your position during the race and for finishing. The top 6 get extra points as per the list above.

You lose points for failing to qualify and for failing to finish.

If a driver or car does not attempt to qualify, for whatever reason, there is no penalty.

For each race you score your score for each driver and car is calculated as follows

 Qualifying

Subtract start position from 26. (I.E. pole gets 25 points, 22nd place gets 4 points.)

Race improvement

Subtract finish position from start position and multiply by 4. (Negative scores included!)

A failure to finish counts as 26th place.

Race finish

Subtract finish position from 26 and add any FIA points

A failure to finish counts as 26th place.

Fail to qualify

Lose 10 points

Engines score the FIA points of the highest finishing car using that make of engine. There are no qualifying points improvement points or penalties for engines.

(E.G. If result is Mercedes 1st, Mercedes 2nd, Honda 3rd, then Mercedes scores 10 points and Honda 4 points. )

All results will be scored as ratified by the FIA. If they change their minds (appeals, disqualifications etc. then I will adjust the points to correspond.

Tyres used will not count for points this season
